Wind Speeds

July 07, 2023

To ensure inflatables used outdoors are safe for users, the maximum wind speed in which any inflatable can be used is 24 miles per hour or 38kph. This applies to all inflatables without fail, no matter how many anchor points it may have. Be sure to follow this guidance when operating your inflatables outdoors to avoid injury!

The use of a wind meter or also known as an anemometer, is crucial wherever the inflatable is being used. In order to ensure the wind conditions are still safe for the continued operation of an inflatable, wind measurements should be taken at frequent intervals. It is not recommended to use weather apps or go by the weather forecast as they are not considered accurate enough, and won’t be local readings. In addition to this, there are other factors such as trees, buildings, hills and wind-alley conditions on site can influence this in either direction. Although weather apps can be used to help predict conditions predictions, they may only show an average wind speed, or an estimate, things like gust or maximum wind speed will need to be accounted for as well.

Just remember that no one wants to cancel a hire and disappoint a customer but it just isn’t worth the risk to the children or users.
